Aussie director Bruce Beresford (The Contract, Driving Miss Daisy) has inked a deal to bring a biopic of novelist Kenneth Grahame and his troubled relationship with his wife Elspeth for the big screen.
Grahame was one of England’s most popular children’s authors having penned the classic The Wind in the Willows, which celebrates it’s 100th year of existence later this year.
The movie will be titled Banking on Mr. Toad, a obvious reference to his famous lovable rogue character.
U.K. based HSL Studio’s are handling the picture, they usually deal with budgets ranging between $10 and $55 million - I’m guessing this one will be on the lower scale of things.
