Wow, it's weird that WATCHMEN is this juggernaut of a film release.

Only four years ago, around the time of the BATMAN BEGINS release, barely anyone I spoke to knew of Alan Moore's great graphic novel and any attempt to try and get them to read it was quickly dismissed with a "comics are for girls". Well, box office receipts will show there are many girls who watch movies this weekend.

Just weird. And it's so right that so many people are intrigued by the yellow imagery and are seeing the movie this weekend but know absolutely nothing about what it is they will see.

Ah the time for talk is done. The movie is out NOW and I wanna hear your feedback. (and it's the hottest ticket in town, today's showings are all but sold out in multiple cinema's in my area).

If you see the movie, YOU HAVE TO LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK HERE (spoilers allowed). SERIOUSLY, COMMENT IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE, IT'S THE ONLY WAY THIS KIND OF POST WILL WORK.

Did Zack Snyder knock it out of the park. Is this the WATCHMEN we deserve after two decades of waiting?

Do let us know.

You should never go back.

I say it time and time again. Nostalgia is one of the most damaging diseases infecting the blood stream of the movie industry and it's killing the originality of this creative art form right now.

This desire to look into the past rather than ahead, to aim for the cheap buck instead of forging future franchises like true visionaries have done before us will have grave consequences ten years from now. There will be no more Terminators to remake, no more Indy Jones, no more Die Hard's. Maybe then we will see some kind of new beginning or maybe it will all go poof!

I've said it from day one. What an opportunity WB have with this new Terminator trilogy. What a chance to make something different...something fresh and exciting but no it's nostalgia raring it's ugly head once again.

Has anyone at that studio actually seen what James Cameron did with the franchise in the first two movies because this just contradicts and pisses on everything the legacy stands for.

Big spoilers here about a possible ending as sent to AICN from one of their spys...

The mass publicity for The Dark Knight truly begins now, it's no longer confined to the viral marketing to please the Internet fanboy. Warner Bros. and Chris Nolan now need to spread the word to the average joe who at this point might only be vaguely aware that a sequel to the awesome Batman Begins is opening in just over two months time.

The t.v. spots for Begins did wonders for getting the word out there that this new movie wasn't going to have anything to do with the spandex of George Clooney or Arnie's over the top villain Mr. Freeze. And if this t.v. spot for The Dark Knight is anything to go by, people are going to understand that this Joker is nothing like the cackling Jack Nicholson portrayal.

And I think that could be the key to the box office gold. They think they know The Joker... but in truth they haven't seen anything yet.

This intense t.v. spot played during last night's Survivor in the U.S. and it FUCKING RULES (we talk about spoilers after the trailer)...

A question...
Is The Joker's better class of criminal actually NOT him... and actually Two-Face? Is his creation of Dent's alter ego (look at ...

I very nearly didn't post this but I couldn't resist.

There's been an image circulating the web over the last 72 hours or so, showing what many believe to be the first glimpse of Harvey Dent's as his Two-Face alter ego. It comes directly from the trailer and if it hasn't been photoshopped in anyway, then clearly you can see some of the hideous scars on the left hand side of his face and he looks hurt and confused... holding a gun.

There's little doubt it's Two Face...

And now comes word of a supposed "leaked concept art" of the character.

Holy crap if this is what Nolan has been hatching, it's going to rule. Dent is hideous. It's sickening and he hasn't held back at all, I love it...

IMAGE HAS JUST GONE FROM IT'S SERVER AS I WAS ABOUT TO POST IT. THIS IS CONFIRMATION THAT IT MUST BE REAL... ANYONE GOT A MIRROR COPY, LEAVE A LINK IN THE COMMENTS SECTION!

UPDATED...

AICN have the image but don't know for how long. They think it's real too...

I like that we haven't really had a good look at Harvey Dent's alter ego just yet and however unlikely it may be - I hope we don't stumble across a leaked image before The Dark Knight is released in July.

The moment that we see this charismatic and handsome district attorney look at himself in the mirror and see how hideous fate has decided he must now look for the rest of his life, it should be painful, shocking and disturbing for us... making us truly feel for Harvey Dent before he looses all his self control and goes psychotic, slowly losing our sympathy with each terrible act.

Eckhart's been talking to the L.A. Times...
"I can tell you that, basically, when you look at Two-Face, you should get sick to your stomach. Being the guy under all that, well, that was a lot of fun for me. It's like you would feel if you met someone whose face had pretty much been ripped off or burned off with acid. I can't talk about it beyond that because I don't want to give away too much of the plans by Chris."
Full Interview HERE but that's the main jist.

Remember, that AWESOME bootlegged trailer ...

The delayed second trailer for The Dark Knight which focuses more on Harvey Dent and The Joker's rise to being the mob boss in Gotham has played at the NY Comic Con.

It's expected the trailer will be available for us in a few weeks time, probably the end result of another viral marketing scarvanger hunt. Here's the scoop from a reader of AICN who saw it with his own eyes...
This trailer is more plot-driven, depicting the Joker's rise to power (Joker to mob bosses: It's simple: kill the Batman.) and Bruce's struggle with Rachel dating Harvey. There's an extended sequence of Joker meeting Rachel (the one in the second trailer - "A little fight in ya. I like that!"); he coyly fixes his hair and mentions how beautiful she looks. There are heavy shots of Harvey Dent promising that the dawn is coming and he delivers a terrific line to Bruce: You either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain. Further foreshadowing his turn as Two-Face, half of Harvey's face is held to what looks like a gasoline-soaked floor.

There was thunderous applause, arguably the best of the night (next to Battlestar Galactica and Guillermo del ...

Jason's mother will be in the new Friday the 13th redo despite the new franchise beginning with the events of Friday the 13th Part II and the news has leaked this weekend from Starfest that Nana Visitor (who played Major Kira in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) will play her.

The character was of course the main serial killer in the original movie and was memorably played by Betsy Palmer.

The news comes from ScreenGeeks.com...
During our time with her, she revealed that she will be playing Pamela Voorhees in the upcoming Friday the 13th remake. She apparently won’t be in the film for long, but she has had a mold made of her head. Yeah…any guesses as to how she leaves the film?
Seems like decent casting. She's aged quite a bit in the 10 years or so since DS9 ended and she certainly has hair style for the part. I still think it's a mistake to not revolve the first film in the franchise around the character but I guess at least it's nice she will be making an appearance somewhere.

Even if it is very brief.

First of all, it would seem that review of The Dark Knight from a few days ago is official. Unless of course someone is using that review to stir up some more rumor?

And it would seem the fallout from that screening or a similar test screening somewhere else in the world has lead to the news that controversial scenes involving Heath Ledger (which were shot before he died) will be cut from the film.

The following can be considered a spoiler but here's the scoop from Cinema Blend...
The scene involves Ledger’s Joker character pretending to be dead and being pictured in a body bag. Apparently the aftershocks of Ledger’s unfortunate death are such that many in the screening reacted rather badly to this moment and now execs are considering excising the scene altogether.
Which is sensible right? According to the review a few days ago the scene was pretty much inconspicuous with the rest of the feature and does not effect the plot at all, it could easily be removed without anyone ever noticing.

So why leave it in and get people uncomfortable in the cinema? We are all going to be paying far more attention to Heath Ledger's performance ...

Love these images that I stumbled across for The Dark Knight over at IESB. I'm not sure how long we will be able to keep them up for but these are completely different to any screenshots currently online for the film.

Really like the last image which I think confirms to us one or two things that we were speculating on last year.

And what about the image of Heath Ledger as a cop without the face paint? Does that signify to us that the make-up on the Joker is self-inflicted and something he wears everyday?

Less than four months to go. People should start seeing Nolan's cut very soon but we shall try and stay away from screening spoilers as much as possible.

If you've somehow stayed 100% spoiler free for the upcoming BATMAN BEGINS sequel then I have to congratulate you because I know for myself it's been virtually impossible. Although I guess, nothing as spoiler heavy as the frikkin' script which was leaked last time around, so maybe we should be thankful for that.

Now if your a Batman fan, or you know anything about the characters in THE DARK KNIGHT then this New York Toyfare image taken over the weekend won't be any surprise to you at all and is hardly a spoiler. However, for everyone else it most definitely is.

July 18th (25th for the U.K.) all answers will be revealed. But we have one reveal below, in plastic form...

Looks like Harvey Dent will indeed be making the transformation to Two-Face in THE DARK KNIGHT and it won't be kept for a third movie. I predict his transformation will come right at the very end of the picture, possibly as a kind of cliffhanger but we'll see. Looks pretty damn great to me, can't wait to get a better image...

The always awesome UGO Movieblog got word from a scooper in NYC who saw the IMAX preview for THE DARK KNIGHT that will run in front of I AM LEGEND.

Spoilers ahoy, you're almost at the point of no return...
"A bank heist is really the only way to introduce the Clown Prince of Crime.

It starts off with a breathtaking shot of Gotham City in broad daylight. The camera swoops into this big glass skyscraper the way only an IMAX movie can. It was stunning. Then BOOM! One of the windows in this big glass skyscraper is blown out. It then cut to two thugs in ugly clown masks (the ones we saw in the first publicity stills that were released months ago) shooting a zip line down to an adjacent rooftop.

Cut to the street as we see another thug waiting on a street corner with his clown mask in his hand. We’re looking at him from behind and can’t see his face.
In Hollywood there is nothing more terrifying than an original idea. It’s a fear born from the unknown, fear that audiences won’t get it, fear that it won’t do ‘good business.’ For nervous studio executives, both the movie franchise and the remake are a reassuring comfort blanket. These are movies that already have a guaranteed audience and producers can relax in the knowledge that the same idea has made money before.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007) is in the rare position of being both a franchise movie and a direct remake of John Carpenter’s 1978 classic. That Zombie’s film raked in a massive $30.6 million on its opening weekend is hardly surprising. Nor should it be surprising that the film is a mess – lacking originality, insight, and, worst of all, scares.

But fans of the original have little reason to complain. Over nearly three decades and seven sequels the franchise has already been beaten to a bloody pulp. For the most part these sequels are borderline remakes anyway and stick rigidly to the template laid down in by Carpenter’s original.

On Halloween night murderous bogeyman Michael Myers returns to his home town of Haddonfield, Illinois to wreak bloody retribution on the town’s sex ...

Though it has a lame duck director, a mediocre screenwriter, the movie has the benefit of a top notch cast with Edward Norton, one of my favourite actors, playing Bruce Banner.

Norton is surprisingly a comic geek, but his casting was dependent on him doing a pass on the screenplay. Latino Review and IESB are running thorough breakdowns of Norton's script, so head on over to those sites if you want the details. Skimming through it seems we can expect more "Hulk smash!" less "Hulk has daddy issues."

In years past unknowns have been cast in these superhero parts due to them being cheap and allowing directors to wheel out the "you won't believe a recognised actor in the part" schtick. People like Christian Bale, Robert Downey Jr and Norton add some credibility to these films. Though WATCHMEN has a load of B-listers in it (despite Zack Snyder promising otherwise) and JUSTICE LEAGUE will struggle to get top actors involved as most ...

Another day, another TREK rumor but I tell ya guys, this one sounds like it may have some substance. IESB have gotten word that the LORD OF THE RINGS actor Karl Urban has been offered the chance to play a Romulan baddie in next year's restart.

Now, obviously when I hear a bit of TREK news, I have to go over to TREK MOVIE. They are the best source for all things on the new movie, no doubt about it.

They confirm that Urban has been offered a role in the new movie but it won't be the main villain part or that of Captain Kirk. Their source would go no further when pressed, so that leaves us with the possibility of a secondary villain... or the role of Bones, Scotty or a character we had never thought of.

Whatever the part, Trek Movie kindly tell us that Urban once worked with the co-writers and executive producers of the new movie on XENA WARRIOR PRINCESS and even managed to get this statement from one of them, Mr. Roberto Orci...
We worked with Urban back in the day, when Alex and I were the showrunners on Herucles and Xena. He always came through for us, ...

From the trailer of SAW IV, Tobin Bell's villainous Jigsaw character looks dead. Very dead actually.

So curiously, he is show in these images below. I can't imagine they will feature him in just a flashback. I actually find myself quite interested in finding out just exactly how they will bring him back.

The movie is quickly creeping up on us soon as we edge closer to the Halloween season. I actually might be making the dreaded trip to see Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN tonight. I can't say I'm expecting a good time but ya know, I saw HALLOWEEN H20 in the theatre too and HALLOWEEN RESURRECTION and it can't be any worse than those... even if it does piss me off.

Thank heavens the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie is going forward. With the impending strike I'd feared that movie news might get a bit thin on the ground - it turns out there's about three stories a day on this film!
George Miller's superhero ensemble is without doubt the most highly anticipated film since whatever the last one was (TRANSFORMERS?), earlier today Matt posted about Jessical Biel playing Wonder Woman (I don't hate the idea as much as some, but she seems too much of an obvious choice), now Patrick Sauriol (who previously ran the legendary Coming Attractions site) has unearthed some juicy JUSTICE LEAGUE details and posted them on his Back Room Chatter blog.

Here are some of the milder spoilers:
The characters of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash and Martian Manhunter comprise the League. One name that I did not hear mentioned was that of Aquaman. Where’d the fish guy go? Good question.

Story elements from the screenplay have been adapted directly from DC’s JLA comic book series.

The man wearing the Green Lantern ring in the JLA film is John Stewart and not Hal Jordan (Earth’s first Green Lantern) or Kyle Rayner (who followed after Stewart’s run in the comic book ...

I'll admit, it's a pretty genius way of bringing Jigsaw back for a sequel but Saw IV looks like it is just delivering the same old, same old.

Y all know how these movies work by now and you probably all decided on whether you were seeing this movie the second after Saw III finished. I actually decided I wasn't going to watch anymore the moment Saw II finished, although I did catch up with Saw III later on DVD as I probably will this flick.

Trailer is below...

How did this happen?

I thought Charlize Theron was suppose to just be the bored housewife who took in Will Smith's 'superhero in crisis' John Hancock into her care, screwed around with him behind her husband's back and was then placed as the women in the middle when her husband (played by Jason Bateman) finds out what she has done.

Who said anything about her having powers of her own?

Yesterday we had word on possible titles for Fox’s X-Men spinoffs; today we’ve got exclusive details on the plot for David Goyer’s Magneto movie. The director spoke about plans to shoot in Argentina and Europe, and that his story will deal with the origins of Magneto and Professor X – but we’re able to give you a little more info, read on at your own peril:
The movie is book-ended with two scenes in Poland at the 60th Anniversary of the Auschwitz Liberation. These events take place within the timeframe of the first three X-films and will reunite Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.

The opening takes a cue from Bryan Singer’s X-Men, where a young Erik Lehnsherr crumples the Auschwitz gates. Erik is subjected to horrendous experiments by a team of scientists led by vicious Nazi Dr. Kleinmein.

We next meet Lehnsherr in Ukraine. It’s ten years later and he’s married to Magda, they have a young girl called Anya. Erik works in construction, his abilities are well developed, he’s able to plunge a nail straight through wood by just staring at it.

In the village pub Erik spots Kirken, an abusive prison guard from the concentration camp. Kirken ends up dead by Erik’s ...
