Yes, I'm insane to actually be this excited for a Zac Efron picture but when it's directed by Richard Linklater (Before Sunrise/Sunset, Dazed & Confused) and it has Orson Welles not only in the title but a driving force of the film then that's ok.

You can forgive me, I'm sure. A few weeks back we showcased the first set of images from the film and now EW today have given us our first look at the movie's love interest Claire Danes.

She plays a production assistant on Welles' Mercury Theatre production of Julius Caesar who is flattered by the interest of the up and coming and nervous young actor played by Efron.

The movie is playing next week at the Toronto International Film Festival where it's theatrical fate will be much decided on it's buzz from the screenings.

Here comes our first look at Richard Linklater's next movie Me and Orson Welles, the drama based on the Robert Kaplow novel that sees a young high school student inexplicably become noticed by Mercury Theatre founder Orson Welles who gives the inexperienced and nervous guy a bit part in his production of Julius Caesar.

Caesar was the show that made Welles a theatre star.

Hopefully graduating to a higher acting level than his High School Musical performances, the too often annoying Zac Efron stars as the young student... unknown film actor Christian McKay has the mammoth task of playing Welles on screen, but it's ok he has done it extensively on stage.

Here's our first look at the picture. When Efron met Welles...

Also in the above picture I believe is Ben Chaplain as theatre acting legend George Couloris (far, far right I believe) but I can't make out the other guys.

Claire Danes, Zoe Kazan, James Tupper (as one of my favourite screen icons of all time, Joseph Cotton) and Eddie Marsan round out the cast.

Despite the movie not really being about Welles and being more about Efron and the love he shares with Danes, this is still a movie I have a high ...

Jack Black who by my reckoning has never done a sequel has told FilmIndustry.biz that he is considering doing just that with a School of Rock 2.

The original 2003 movie grossed $81 million domestic ($35 million budget) and was a super hit worldwide too. It usually is ranked as one of the highlights of Black's career.

“I’d really like to do it, the last one was great,” Jack Black said at Cannes. “We are seriously thinking about it, there’s already a script. In a few weeks we have to decide if we go through with the project or not.“
The original movie was a surprise bit of light entertainment from inventinve director Richard Linklater who has always spoke fondly of his time on the picture and would probably be interested in a return. Mike White who wrote the scripts for Black's Orange County and Nacho Libre was the screenwriter of the original movie but it's unknown as to whether it's his script they are talking about.

Enjoyed the first movie even if it was like DIET, DIET, DIET Coke - it was so light. I would be up for more.

40's and 50's leading man Joseph Cotton is inevitably brought up whenever anyone talks about the great Orson Welles. They were of course great pals, the Matt Damon & Ben Affleck of their day... and when they challenged each other on screen with their performances they usually brought out the best in each other.

Cotton is one of my favourite actors of all time. The moral backbone of Citizen Kane. The tragic lead and hack writer in The Third Man, his amazing performance often over-looked for Welles' five minutes of fame. The sick psychopath serial killer in Shadow of a Doubt.

The Magnificent Ambersons - Gaslight - Soylent Green - Journey into Fear. So many great performances.

His name is so synonymous with Welles, that you really can't do any kind of biopic on the man without bringing his name up.

42 year old actor American actor James Tupper (pictured above, with a clear face resemblance to Cotton), best known for his recurring role on Men in Trees has been cast as Joseph Cotton in Me and Orson Welles. The movie stars Zac Efron as a high school student who gets noticed by Mercury Theatre founder Orson Welles who gives him a bit part ...
