The outstanding Irish indie film KISSES about to runaways on the streets of Dublin is coming out in the UK, so we caught up with director Lance Daly to find out what he'd want to watch on our lonely desert island cinema...

OWF: So, Lance, we've marooned you on our desert island: what 5 films would you take with you and why?

LD: Well, they'd have to be films you can watch over and over again wouldn't they?

OWF: Yeah, you're going to be stuck for a while!

LD: I'd have to pick a really long one anyway, that'd be ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST. It manages to be brilliant right through that long duration, and it's always so affecting at the end. And then RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK... maybe!

OWF: Is that to inject some fun into your stay on the island?

LD: It'd actually be for the romance, believe it or not! It'd be for the Daaa-daa-da-da-da-da-da! You know? The love theme and stuff, there's something about that which really makes sense to me. So I'd take RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and then something by... I'm tempted to say a Fellini picture but I might get sick of it, so ...

Jamie J. Johnson is the director of excellent documentary Sounds Like Teen Spirit. Out in the UK on the 8th of May, the film tells the story of a group of kids and their journey to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Funny, clever and endearing, the film is a shining example to other documentarist out there. So we wanted to see what films inspired the man behind the magic...

OWF: When you were going into Sounds Like Teen Spirit were there any other documentaries that had really impressed you?
JJ: I think the things I was most influenced by were Spinal Tap and Best in Show, which are obviously not real documentaries - they're both mockumentaries - but it was that kind of affectionate humour that I wanted. In terms of real documentaries I watched Spellbound, I watched Mad Hot Ballroom, though I think Spellbound is better. I don't know. The other stuff I was watching a lot was like The Wonder Years and Stand By Me, just films about growing up.
OWF: So now for the big question. If you were stuck on a Desert Island, what 5 DVDs would you take with you?
It's really tricky! Spinal Tap would be one.

Sorry this is a day later than it's usual Friday slot, but better late than never right...

Scotsman Danny Wallace is a popular writer and comedian in the U.K, best known for the several non-fiction novels he has penned (such as Random Acts of Kindness, Join Me, Are You Dave Gorman?) and his always in-demand status as a t.v. broadcaster (he co-hosts Test the Nation with Anne Robinson and is presenter of the quiz show School's Out).

Wallace started writing reviews of video games when he was just 13, and by the time he was 22 became a producer for the BBC and was key in bringing inventive and original comedy shows such as Dead Ringers and The Mighty Boosh onto the radio.

Last year, Hollywood mega star Jim Carrey starred in the movie Yes Man, based on Wallace's 2005 novel about his life experiences when he decided to say "yes" to everything, no matter what question or proposal. Yes Man hits Blu-Ray and DVD this Monday. Wallace's current best selling novel Friends Like These is available right now from Amazon priced at £7.89.

May I take the time to thank Danny for making a trip to the mysterious island of Movie Castaway, and hope one day ...

Texas Tech University graduate Andy Fickman is one of Disney's top directors. In only a few short years of film-making, Fickman has propelled himself into the position of being one of their most profitable and trusted helmers, his 2007 comedy The Game Plan starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson earning $147 million worldwide.

His new movie, released today is Race to Witch Mountain, a "re-imaging" of the popular 1975 movie Escape to Witch Mountain that went straight to the top of the U.S. box office in March. Only this week he has made another deal with Disney to make the female centric rom-com You Again, which he will film this Summer.

Finding time in his insanely busy schedule promoting Race to Witch Mountain around Europe, the incredibly cool Fickman managed to send OWF his DVD choices for before we jetted him off to the mysterious, deserted island of Movie Castaway.

If I, Andy Fickman, was trapped on a desert island and I could have the luxury of retaining five movies, with the assumption being there’ll be enough electricity to provide me with DVD and TV viewing privileges, I think the following five would top my list:
ANIMAL HOUSE (1978)

Few movies are funnier upon repeat viewings and Animal ...

Todd Brown is the founder and editor of Twitchfilm.net, one of the more unique film sites out there as it mostly pays attention to the independent, cult, foreign and cool genre films that aren't being discussed a hundred times on other sites.

It's a vital read for those who believe the majority of the best films of every year are made outside of the Hollywood elite and I'm not kidding when I say that on a near everyday basis, I read on Twitch about a hidden gem of a movie that I have to rush out and mark on my calendar. Basically anything that is cool but is maybe not being spoken about elsewhere... which makes the site a must read for those hunting out hidden gems.

Todd also runs a regular column at AICN. But if he was stuck on a desert island with only five movies and a dvd player, he would take with him…
Brazil (1985) - Terry Gilliam

Terry Gilliam’s Brazil is the film that completely changed my understanding of what movies could be. My first viewing was of the butchered studio cut on television, but even seeing it that way there was more than enough for the film ...

UPDATED: Mid-flight on his way to the desert island, Pascal Laugier pulled some strings and changed one of his picks. Apparently Mike heard his last movie pick wrong during our interview and he's dropped the Toto DVD from the skies, after a panic that he would be without Richard Loncraine's Red Circle (The Haunting of Julia) starring Mia Farrow.

We've arranged for the DVDs to be swapped by the time he gets there, we couldn't see him go without one of his favourite movies. We are trying to get reasonings out of him, so this article may be updated again!

Frenchman Pascal Laugier is the director of Martyrs, the horror movie that has took his home country by storm and is released in the U.K. today. The movie is released STV in the States this April because no U.S. distributor would dare pick it up.

Laugier is currently developing a reboot of the Hellraiser franchise at Dimension Films for the Weinsteins. But if he was stuck on a desert island with only five movies and a dvd player, he would take with him...
2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968)

PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK (1975)

PROFONDO ROSS (uk title Deep Red) (1975)
