Speaking from a career point of view (and I'm not being insensitive, what happened to Liam Neeson last month was a travesty and I can't imagine what he is going through right now), but as we are a film site, we study his career and from a personal point of view as a film fan, the tragedy came just as Neeson was getting his career back on track.

His role in Taken had shown that he was still bankable and that he was no longer pandering and wasting his time waiting for Spielberg to make Lincoln with him. He decided to move on and find some challenging roles for himself, making himself interesting for the first time in four years. Now Variety's wording is unclear this morning, so I'm not sure if this deal for Neeson came before last month or not, but this is a sign of where his career was heading before tragedy hit in March.

The trades say he is/or was in talks for the role of Zeus in Louis Letterier's remake of Clash of the Titans.

In the original 1981 movie, Zeus transforms the villain Calibos into a hideous monster who is cast away to live as an outsider in ...

Two huge movies based on Greek mythology have both received casting announcements on the same day, once again fuelling the excitement for two movies that have mirrored each other through virtually every point of development.

(They were both greenlit at the same time, they are both budgeted at $100 million, they will both be greenscreen ala 300 and are both based on Greek mythology, just different plots).

First up, Warner Bros. are circling Sam Worthington to play Perseus in their big budget remake of the 80's classic CLASH OF THE TITANS to be directed by Louis Letterier (THE INCREDIBLE HULK, TRANSPORTER) and scripted by the famous Lawrence Kasdan (RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, EMPIRE STRIKES BACK).

CLASH OF THE TITANS tells the story of Zeus son Perseus' journey and battles against Medusa (as pictured above).

Worthington has recently made himself one of Hollywood's most sought after young actors after James Cameron cast him in AVATAR and recommended him to McG for TERMINATOR SALVATION.

Next up, Relativity Media's greek movie WAR OF THE GODS is in talks with The Tudors star Henry Cavill to play Theseus in their Tarsem Singh (THE FALL, THE CELL) directed epic.

The plot for Charley and Vlas Parlapanides' scripted movie is being ...

First Mark Millar, and now Louis Letterier?

Both guys have mentioned Superman reboots, it looks like something is really going down over at Warner Bros. and it doesn't involve Bryan Singer who has probably been dumped on his ass after the less than impressive Superman Returns.

Speaking to a French media outlet, The Incredible Hulk director claims he has heard whispers that WB are considering rebooting the Superman franchise, or as he puts it "reinventing it".

No shit, they should have done that LAST time!

Confusion began earlier in the day when a couple of bloggers read the translation of his interview wrong, and claimed he said that he had held talks with Warner Bros. over directing the new movie himself. Thankfully that turned out to be mis-communication.

A couple of weeks back we heard Mark Millar mention that WB a "well known American action director" had called him up to team together and pitch a new project involving Supes to Warners. Letterier is only semi-known but he is most certainly an action director after cooking up The Transporter series and the recent Hulk movie. And of course he ain't American.
Whatever or whoever it is, I think the death nail has been hammered into Singer's ...

I didn't like The Incredible Hulk, bored the shit out of me actually, sorry I never got round to reviewing it but that movie didn't deserve my time or effort. At this point, I don't think Louis Letterier is capable of telling a story, the casting was all off - Norton and Tyler were as vacant together as I've ever seen in a comic book movie.

William Hurt gave his worst performance in years, the CGI was terrible, the movie had NO plot. How Letterier got away with making a movie that had no characterisation or logic and made the money he has with the film is beyond me. Yes the action was upped from the last Ang Lee movie and yes the film had a more straight forward narrative but structually it was appaling.

I now fear greatly for CLASH OF THE TITANS, the Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark) written remake at Warner Bros.

Louis Letterier is directing according to Variety.

The mostly green screen CGI remake is been hyped up by the trade as going head to head with Tarsem Singh's new project WAR OF THE GODS, which we found out about yesterday at Relativity Media. Apparentaly ...

The Incredible Hulk director Louis Letterier, who for me... has still made three crappy movies with little imagination, character or just plain common sense - is in talks with Summit Entertainment to direct the eco-thriller Strays.

The project comes from the writer of Turistas says The Hollywood Reporter.
In "Strays," a group of young consultants on a business trip to Russia mysteriously wake up in an abandoned and radioactive city and fight to survive the deadly obstacles in between them and safety.
Along the same lines as Turistas as a basic idea and a pretty low key thriller from Letterier who you would think after the Transporter movies and the recent INCREDIBLE HULK would be too far up the chain to helm this?

Ok, so for many of us it's now a matter of a day or two before we will get to see how Marvel have got on with their much harder to adapt but more publicly well known superhero The Incredible Hulk.

It's a trim movie, coming in at under two hours in length which is far shorter than the usual recent superhero fare but according to director Louis Leterrier's latest comments to Collider, it wasn't always that way. In fact he gives us the quite startling news that 70 minutes of the film have been cut and WILL be placed back onto the BLU-RAY DVD RELEASE of the movie.

It's not known at this time whether the same thing will happen with the standard DVD as it's the large capacity of the Blu-Ray disc that allows this.

Letterier says of the cut...
"We killed some of my babies, some of his babies. Like in the 70 minutes in you'll see a scene that was actually in the trailer where you see the Ty Burrell character having a nice introspective talk with Edward."
In a completely different interview with SOS Hollywood, Letterier reveals that one such scene was the introduction of Captain America...
“There’s a point ...
