These kind of stories would usually fall into the rumor category but not only has Nikki Finke been spot on about some scoops at Marvel for a good number of weeks now (Rourke, Johansson, Jackson in IRON MAN 2) but these reports are very much in line from what I've been hearing personally and from other sites.

First up, it's reported that Natalie Portman is Kenneth Branagh's first choice to play the lead female role, probably the love interest Amora the Enchantress...

The character looks like this...

For the lead role of THOR, the following actors are said to have screentested...

Josh Hartnett - Kenneth Branagh who is a close personal friend of Hartnett and was impressed by his performance in Othello on stage in London has made it clear he wants Hartnett in the picture either as THOR or the villain LOKI.

Physically, he most definitely suits the latter and at this point it looks like he will play the villain part. Some heads at Marvel wanted him to play the lead THOR because of his name status, though I say it's been a while since Harnett has been a Marquee figure.

Sometimes I feel like Josh Hartnett in August, a movie which played at this year's Sundance Film Festival and managed to secure a small theatrical release in the U.S. this July (yeah I know - August would have been better) from First Look Studio's.

What I mean is trying to convince people that Obsessed With Film is just that close to hitting it big. To believe in something so much that no matter what the figures say, what people around you say and trying your best to convince your team that the collective effort you are fighting for is worth it when immediate results are slim - is something I can attest to greatly.

I 100% believe in the future of Obsessed With Film so in the end I know I will get my happy ending. Will Hartnett get his in August? I'm not so sure... (in fact I do from the plot, or I think I do)...

Josh Hartnett leads a stellar cast including David Bowie, Naomie Harris, Rip Torn, Robin Tunney, and Adam Scott. Director Austin Chick (XX/XY) presents an insightful look at the financial crash of the dot com era, bringing to life the economic chaos and ambiguity that ...

Wow, this one looks way more interesting than I thought it would - though I don't exactly know where this near six minutes long trailer came from originally, it desperately needs some cutting work done to it before it can officially be released.

It's the leaked trailer for the Hong Kong set thriller I Come With the Rain which stars Josh Hartnett (who give him credit is starting to choose some interesting roles) as a private detective who, haunted by a past encounter with a serial killer, heads for the Far East to search for a missing heir who has the power to heal with his touch.

Tran Nu Yen Khe and Lee Byung-hun also star, as does the great character actor Elias Koteas who might get more screentime than usual here and I'm all for it.

I Come With the Rain feels fresh, the setting feels new, Hartnett's performance looks powerful, the direction looks solid. With some cutting this could be one hell of a trailer. It comes from Vietnamese helmer Anh Hung Tran...

Josh Hartnett's career continues to take a strange path.

The once popular studio actor has just finished post on the Asian gangster movie I COME WITH THE RAIN where he plays an L.A. Cop who moves out to Hong Kong in search of a missing billionaire and now comes word from Variety of another upcoming project straight out of left field.

This time it's BUNRAKU, where Hartnett will play an un-named, revenge-seeking loner in an alternative universe. The film is in production at the awesomely titled Snoot Entertainment and is said to have been inspired by Japanese puppetry (as illustrated by a Bunraku performance as shown below), video games and even German expressionism which will result in a spaghetti-Western-Samurai-Gangster mash-up flick.

I don't quite know what the hell to make of that plot description but it sounds pretty awesome and totally weird.

The film will shoot in Europe this Spring from unknown director Guy Moshe.
