One thing's for sure, it won't be twenty years until we see another INDIANA JONES film with Harrison Ford as the whip cracking adventurer. It's going to be soon, likely within the next four years, or never again with the aging star who at 66, can't have that many years left in the tank to lead a summer tentpole spectacular.

Ford told The L.A. Times on Friday that Lucas was "in think mode" for a fifth INDY film, a movie that Spielberg, Lucas & Ford have continuously stated could be a possibility after the $783 million worldwide success of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL this year.

"It's crazy but great... we did well with the last one and with that having done well and been a positive experience, it's not surprising that some people want to do it again," Ford said.
After being burned twice with Lucas and his reinventions of franchises, I'm not one to get excited about any future INDIANA JONES movies anymore. Which is a real shame because Harrison was great in KOTCS, he deserved better and I would love to pay to see the character again but never in such a flawed movie.

Music composed by: JOHN WILLIAMS

Film composer JOHN WILLIAMS is a modern day Beethoven. He is Mozart. He is Tchaikovsky. When he sits down to compose a score for your movie, you get the fuck out of his way and let him make cinematic magic.

George "Shithead" Lucas used to understand this, long, long ago when he used to make movies for reasonable humanoids above the age of fetus. Unfortunately, his devolution into a simpering infant has affected more than his sense of shot composition, storytelling, and characterization - i.e. every skill necessary for any reasonable filmmaker. No, it has also caused Lucas to forget the valuable contribution of a movie's score to its overall effect on audiences. This is odd, considering that it was Lucas (along with STEVEN SPIELBERG) who reinvigorated the use of musical cues in modern film, and at the same time introducing the world to the genius of Williams.

Imagine STAR WARS without that riveting, martial theme. Imagine the Cantina sequence without the delightful musical accompaniment. Imagine Darth Vader's entrance in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK without the powerful IMPERIAL MARCH. Imagine the asteroid chase in that film without the whirling, swirling ...

The estimated totals are in, the worst film on the filmography of Steven Spielberg - the mess that is Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull earned a massive $26 million on it's opening full day of release in the U.S.

Still, it's a long way off the $50 million+ opening day releases of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End.

Fantasy Moguls also report that not as many fanboys rushed out to see the movie at midnight and the $4 million Wednesday night totals is said to be less than expected.

With it being a long holiday weekend, the movie is expected to run $150 million very close over the next five days if it keeps up the pace. The film is said to be enjoying some of the success from the fall out of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and has quickly become the family friendly number one choice for the weekend.

This of course means big families and multiple ticket buys!

Indiana Jones... I always knew you would come walking back through my door.

But then again I don't feel like he ever left - it was Harrison Ford that I had missed. My copies of Raiders of the Lost Ark (one of my favourite films of all time), Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade (one of my most watched films of all time) I get round to viewing at least once a year - never getting old, always being the same entertaining films I always thought they were and with Indy, the bumbling hero - the guy who made archaeology cool and was the definition of the ultimate mortal hero.

He hurts, he bleeds, he shows emotion but always comes back for more. Because history demands it!

Indy has been with me all my life but it's Harrison Ford that disappeared. He was my childhood hero, the man who I would look out for in movies to give me guidance on how and often how not to live my life. Then something happened... just after Air Force One he disappeared, hardly to be seen again. He became miserable, age and life had finally caught up to him. He would only take on ...

Some reviewers have given the new INDIANA JONES film some rather high praise. Others have given it a "pass," saying that it's nice to have Indy back despite the lackluster adventure in this film.

Those people are wrong. Dead motherfucking wrong.

Let's get this statement of fact out into the open from the beginning: this film was made in order to make an outrageous profit for GEORGE LUCAS, STEVEN SPIELBERG, and HARRISON FORD. There was no burning, must-tell story here; it wouldn't have taken fifteen years to hammer out the plot if the story had been inspired and original. The greatest pop songs are often written in thirty minutes or less - they come from the moment, and touch the heart of their listeners. The original RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK was basically written during a beachside holiday between Lucas and Spielberg. Creative inspiration provided the fuel for that classic adventure. By comparison, this story ...

Here’s the good news: INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL does not suck. Forget the poor reviews—this is far from a poor film. Here’s the bad news: it’s not a great film. If that disappoints you then the jokes on you because you expect too much—the trilogy was lightning in a bottle and can never be re-captured. But this film comes close, and that’s mighty impressive.

I won’t go over the details of the plot here except to say Indiana Jones is on the hunt for an artifact once again, this time racing against Soviets and this time taking him to meso-America. That’s really all you need to know. It involves crystal skulls and the paranormal but that’s all kind of incidental to the main point of this film: a wild adventure ride. And what a ride it is. The fourth Indiana Jones film is a helluva fun time—the action is awesome, the ...

Are we all ready? Harrison Ford's been wheeled out, Cate Blanchett has spent 3 days in Kiev practising her accent, Shia LaBeouf has finished grooming himself and George Lucas is ready with the cash register: it's Indy time!

The plot is predictably stupid for an Indiana Jones movie, it's 1957 and the aged archeologist has been kidnapped by commies and taken to a secret US military installation to identify an artefact he excavated years ago in a triple top-secret mission. Once the artefact (a really really old transparent, psychic and weirdly shaped skull that is sometimes magnetic, and sometimes attracts gold) is found we begin an all-important tug-of-war over this astounding object to decide the fate of the world!

Indiana Jones and the Selectively Magnetic Head... no... wait... Indiana Jones and the Shit-Looking Plastic Alien Brain... hang on, nearly there... Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a fucking waste of time, a pointless ...

The Hollywood Reporter claim that some industry expects believe that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will over-take last year's Spider-Man 3 as the biggest opening film of all time. To do that it will have to rake in over $151 million over four days... but as I said last year if any movie could do it apart from The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 4... it would be Indy.

Speaking of our favourite adventurer, one criticism I keep hearing from the reviews online is that the movie uses too much C.G.I - a presence whose absence in Raiders of the Lost Ark has played a great part in that movie still being as fun and enjoyable today as it was over two decades ago. Here's a new cartoonish poster for the film which I'm hoping doesn't turn into the ridicilous.

Michael is seeing it tonight and will have a review up for us, I'm seeing it at midnight tomorrow with a review forthcoming and then Ray will no doubt add his two cents to the table. Let's hope the movie is fun... but not silly, right?

Matt here... Eugenio is back once again. He had his ear to the ground post-screening of the new Indiana Jones screening at Cannes and he kindly let us know of the atmosphere of the press after the film had been seen. Again you can read his thoughts after the image...

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opened at the Palais on Wednesday to strong reviews from the trade press at the festival, but some reservations from its audience. It's gala premiere on Sunday 18th was preceded by a press screening which was popular enough to have to turn back some members of the press.

Variety, Screen International and The Hollywood Reporter were all enthusiastic about the latest instalment from Spielberg and Lucas in their special daily editions for the festival. Most saw it as a fitting addition to the films of the trilogy, with the long chase sequence in the Amazoniana jungle and the performance of Harrison Ford as Indy getting particular repeated mentions.

Fans, however, those few that were able to get tickets to the premiere, gave mixed reviews. In particular, the UFO-driven storyline, a middle section that sags a little and at times too much dialogue and exposition ...

Peter here, coming to you live from... well, my bedroom in Leeds. Not quite as exotic as Cannes, where the first of today's press screenings of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL took place just a few hours ago. Already the reviews are coming in thick and fast.

John Harlow of The Times Online says...
"Whether Ford’s charm will be enough to earn the film the $400m it is estimated to need to recoup Paramount Pictures’ investment remains to be seen. However, a preview attended by The Sunday Times last week suggested that the internet gossips who have doubted the film’s drawing power may be proved wrong."
Variety equally have praise for the movie, saying...
"Nineteen years after their last adventure, director Steven Spielberg and star Harrison Ford have no trouble getting back into the groove with a story and style very much in keeping with what has made the series so perennially popular."
Empire Online had this to say in their mini-review..
"...it's safe to say that Indy tamed Cannes, an obstinate crowd at the best of times. You might read damning reviews in the meantime, both from film snobs and film nerds, but as Indy admonishes a geeky student after a ...

This is pretty hilarious. Out in Cannes - George Lucas was talking to Fox News about the future of the recently resurrected Indiana Jones franchise when he came up with this doozy of a quote...
"I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this," he said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.

"And it’s not like Harrison is even old. I mean, he’s 65 and he did everything in this movie. The old chemistry is there, and it’s not like he’s an old man. He’s incredibly agile; he looks even better than he did 20 years ago, if you ask me."
No shit Lucas.

Because NO-ONE saw that coming did they?

You yourself may not have told Spielberg or Ford - but the whole rest of the Internet land did last Summer.

If he keeps this franchise game up, LaBeouf may well become the richest young male actor around in another five years time.

On a side note - I booked my tickets tonight for Indiana Jones next week. A midnight showing on Wednesday night at my local cinema which ...

I'm just a few short hours away now from seeing Iron Man tonight - really can't wait. The reviews have been universally positive, it looks like Marvel have created and financed a movie on their own which stands up with the extremely high quality that was set with the Spider-Man and X-Men franchises.

It's claimed to be the best superhero film since Batman Begins and the one movie that is giving people massive hope of the future of Marvel's portion of the genre.

But enough of Iron Man, my review will come late tonight.

For now this is what is of interest. The longest trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which will play alongside prints of the latest Marvel blockbuster

Here's the second t.v. spot for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, in shitty quality but just about the best available as of right now.

Four new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull images for you. The last one is my favourite, great pose from Harrison.

And Shia LaBeouf really doesn't care if your man or a women. He's gonna lay one on Cate Blanchett...

The new Indiana Jones tv spot flies past quicker than Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon. You know, all they needed to do was play that John Williams score in front of any old footage and I think I would have been hooked.

This movie looks great, just as good as we could have ever hoped it to be. Just makes me to sad to think that if they had got their act together sooner, we could have had more installments of this great series already!

I hope people give this movie a chance and don't go in thinking... "It won't be as good as Raiders" or "Harrison's too old" or "Spielberg's not the director he use to be". Your only setting yourself up for a failure don't that.

COME ON GENIUS, FASTER MOVE! - CLICK HERE TO SEE THE NEW INDY IV TV SPOT!

New and possibly final one-sheet poster for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom the Crystal Skull with a big close-up image of the alien skull (not hiding it now are they?), images of the full cast (less... John Hurt and Jim Broadbent), Snakes and the Mayans!

I'm pretty certain the poster will look better in person and the photoshop job is probably dis-credited by the computer quality but I still really like this poster...

When I was a kid, this massive one-sheet poster use to reside right next to my bed for what was one of my "healthy obsession" films...

Now after seeing the disturbing image of poor Ronald Lacey's face melting literally a hundred times, I always found that image of him in that poster a little creepy. I thought he would stare at me during the night, bringing out a hot Iron to brand and burn me during my sleep.

I got over it but I still remember fondly how creeped out I was over Raiders of the Lost Ark but the darkness kept bringing me back to it time and time again. I like to think that the alien skull in the new Indy poster will have the same effect on children ...

According to Variety, attendees at this year's Cannes Film Festival will be the first lucky people on the planet who will witness the long-awaited fourth installment of the Indiana Jones saga on Sunday May 18th, just a four short days before the movie opens worldwide.

This will be the first time a Spielberg movie has premiered at Cannes for over 25 years when E.T. had a similar release in 1982.

Below is a new poster for INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL which was snapped by Paul at The Movie Chronicles and is pretty damn hideous if you ask me. I think it's just a promo piece (because of the big banner) and the lack of text underneath (listings of stars) as we still await the big one-sheet theatrical poster.

Shia LaBeouf looks to have a kink in his neck and is goofy as hell with a sword. Anyone worried about his presence in this movie after seeing photo's from the film and the movie's trailer?
