I haven't been this disappointed by a film since the new Indiana Jones, and my disappointment provoked so much fury then that I'm a little bit nervous about venting my frustration about X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Nonetheless, so lame was this woeful attempt to milk a franchise that I can't contain myself: so here goes...

Wasn't Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) supposed to be a short, gruff, angry, violent killer who goes psycho a lot and stabs people? I know he's a good guy, and his character is a bit deeper than just that, but I'm sure he was once a soldier who revelled in his talent at slaughter? Nobody seems to have told director Gavin Hood and credited writer David Benioff. Between them they seem to think that he's a big handsome fella, who's loving, jovial and very very vulnerable. Plus he walks around topless a lot. I mean A LOT. And when the lust for vengeance pulses through his veins, he seems to calm down and act normally again pretty fucking quickly.

Rather than explain how Wolverine became who he is in the original trilogy, XMO just reduces everything to a single story of deceit centring on the evil plans of Colonel Striker (Danny ...

Late extensive re-shoots couldn't save Columbia's HANCOCK from being a painful experience on our eyeballs, now 20th Century Fox, unhappy with the work so far of director Gavin Hood and with more cash coming their way thanks to WATCHMEN... have ordered some last minute filming to try and save the picture.

These aren't just some late tweaks to the picture, they are described as "extensive re-shoots" according to Collider. They are taking place in Vancouver and from all the reports we've been hearing, if they could remake the whole picture, they won't hesitate. For whatever reason, they haven't been happy with Hood's work and are constantly pushing their weight to make the movie the studio want.

Though Hood can't have done that bad a job, if he is the one doing the re-shoots. Maybe more money has allowed them to film something that was previously out of budget?

Matt here…

Rumors of trouble regarding the production of X-Men Origins: Wolverine have some legit foundation if Variety are to be believed.

They sensationally claim that Richard Donner, the man who directed the first ever Summer blockbuster superhero movie with Superman in 1978 had to fly to the other side of the world to Australia to the defence of director Gavin Hood who 20th Century Fox "almost fired" from their May 2009 tentpole release.

Dickie Donner, who is the husband of producer Lauren Shuler Donner... looks to have kept Hood in a job after Fox had two backup directors ready to take over. Ironically, this is the terrible fate that happened to Donner himself which ended up being the tragic situation on Superman II where he left the project before it's completion.

The conflict regarding Wolverine is said to be over the tone of the film, Hood's take on the character being much like Frank Miller's dark and viscious version. Instead Fox, wanting to appease a wider audience initially demaned a kiddie friendly cut.

The end result we won't know till May but either the studio or Hood must have backed down in their demands.

Of course this isn't the first time we have heard of ...

Another day, another casting for the WOLVERINE prequel.

Daniel Henney, an American expatriate actor from South Korea has been cast as Agent Zero - according to Variety. Agent Zero (real name David North and originally known as Maverick) is a member of the Weapon X program and an expert tracker with lethal marksman skills.

He was created by Jim Lee in 1992 and is the 77th (give or take a mutant) supporting character in Gavin Hood's (RENDITION) new movie.

Gambit, the biggest X-MEN character yet to be introduced on film has finally been cast.

IESB have it on good authority that Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) will play Remy LeBeau in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, the first of three movies he will play the character.

I know nothing about the actor here but all I'm going to say is that I'm not impressed. Gambit has always been one of my three favourite characters in the X-MEN universe along with Wolverine and Cyclops. Now, they've already made an absolute mess of Cyclops, with an underwritten and whiny character for James Marsden - who would have made a good Cyclops if they had given him the right material. PLEASE FOR GOD'S SAKE, DON'T MESS UP GAMBIT!

And why is this guy in Wolverine's origin story? Wouldn't it have been better to introduce him in X-MEN 4 - couldn't you have just put another X-MEN character in this one? Something we don't care as much about?

I was praying Josh Holloway would get the part. I mean hell, he plays Gambit on Lost week in and week out, and if your gonna introduce him in WOLVERINE then you need an actor of stature who can match Hugh ...
