According to Mike Fleming, former model turned actor Channing Tatum is now being considered for the role of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America in Marvel's June 2011 released tentpole which begins filming at the end of next month.

So first there was Chris Evans, then Ryan Phillipe and now Tatum after the original bunch of t.v. actors and unknowns. There's certainly a pattern forming here.

These are actors who have a number of big features under their belt (despite two of them struggling to win roles right now) and it's pretty clear that the bunch of guys Joe Johnston was originally given to consider for a March 1st casting deadline, just weren't up to snuff.

Marvel are deepening their $300,000 pockets, and are now looking at the kind of talent we originally thought would be considered for this. After the jump, a look at three British actresses' up for the love interest part, one of which is Keira Knightley;

Tatum, of course, feels right physicality wise. He has charisma too, even though he kinda went missing in G.I. Joe but nobody really survived that picture with much pride. The guy has momentum with Dear John performing at the box office and with Knockout and The ...

Universal has taken the risky gamble of remaking all of the monster films from its archives. Judging by the first, The Wolfman, they stand to lose a lot of money.

Benicio Del Toro stars as Larry Talbot, an English actor in 1890 who has gone to seek his fortune in America. When Larry's brother is brutally murdered, Larry reluctantly returns home to be with his estranged family, including his mysterious father Sir John Talbot (Anthony Hopkins) and his brother's fiance Gwen (Emily Blunt). During his investigation into his brother's death, he is attacked and bitten by a horrific creature in a gypsy camp, which gives him unnatural powers when the moon rises ...

It seems unpleasant and wrong to discuss the turmoil in the making of a film when reviewing it, but it is unavoidable in this case. The Wolfman is a narrative mess, and many of the hackings and arguments behind the scenes show up unpleasantly onscreen. Particularly bad is the entire first act, which flops around in a vain attempt to establish a character and a romance for Larry. Rather than take a careful pace to build up to Larry's infection and transformation, the film rushes headlong to that point ...

The Wolfman is as expected, a complete waste of time for all.

There really is no reason for this misguided remake of the beloved 1941 Universal horror classic to exist. They couldn't even get the fu**king title right for a start!

It should be The-Wolf-Man because that's how you say it... The... Wolf... Man, not The Wolfman. The spelling they have chosen is nowhere near as iconic or menacing as it should be. But anyway, I could have forgiven that rather small (but still significant) qualm if the movie had been half-way decent.

Of course it wasn't - the movie is a disaster. The Wolfman, is empty, soulless and has had way too much money ($100 million!!!) thrown at it but none of it is accountable, and you can feel the panic that must have existed among Universal when they brought in editor Walter Murch to salvage the project to provide some damage limitation.

His take seemingly was to cut the awkward transitional moments with excessive be-headings, blood gore and viscera, the frequent cheap jump scare at the audience (the laziest & lamest of all horror conceits was used a dozen times and it never once made anyone in the theatre jump). I ...

Universal's classic horror canon has suffered some pretty rough treatment over the years, from Coppola's over-blown version of Bram Stoker's Dracula (Keanu Reeves' complete bewilderment the high low-point), to the misjudged nadir that was Stephen Sommers' Van Helsing, and now we have a 21st century attempt at redemption with the hirsute moors murderer himself, The Wolfman.

Based on Curt Siodmak's original screenplay from the 1941 version starring Lon Chaney Jr. the film-makers made the decision to retain a faithfullness to the original and not follow a total revisionist route, but this almost stubborn refusal to introduce a more sophisticated and subtle take on the story might leave some scratching their heads as to why they bothered in the first place. Then again, a story about a Shakespearean actor who turns into a rampaging werewolf possibly doesn't suggest the dramatic depths.

It's 19th century England and Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro), stage actor and prodigal son of Anthony Hopkins' wealthy landowner in the hamlet of Blackmoor, has returned from America. Soon after, he's approached by Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt) to help in the search for his missing brother, and her fiancee, who made the unfortunate decision to go wandering in the woods around ...

It's fair to say old Wolf Man has had his troubles. I know it's an old thing to discuss but the loss of director Mark Romanek just days before shooting was such a terrible blow, it's a miracle this project even managed to enter the shooting stage, let alone anything else.

But that's all water under the early 20th century London bridge.

Then there was the several release date set-backs which adds up to nearly two years now since it was originally intended to debut on our screens. Can you believe the cast of this film were promoting the movie at Comic Con 2008, when back then it was positioned to be a showcase for man-made effects over computer CGI?

Oh how times have changed. A whole year of CGI post-production re-edits has resulted in an entirely different picture, one that isn't the modern day remake of a classic many of us hoped for. At this point I pretty much expected a disaster from the trailer, released for the first time today at Yahoo Movies.

The good news is, it's not a disaster. Far from it but it does have it's problems. The main one being what I mentioned above, which has now resulted ...

Another day, another quirky indie movie written by an unknown. It is becoming a given that first-time writers (and frequently, though not in this case, directors) produce a piece of whimsical comedy that combines the dramatic elements of everyday problems with a strange or surreal undertone.

Of course, I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing. Hell, I'd watch a million of these movies over some of the expensive action bilge I've been subjected to lately, and I certainly enjoy them much more than regular dramas that so often reek of pretension and offer very little real substance (for example, overrated crap like Two Lovers).

What's more, as these low-budget movies becomes more popular and prevalent you'll find that certain producers get a knack for spotting the best of them: and I suspect that this is becoming the case with the producers of Sunshine Cleaning, who are the guys who also brought us the brilliant Little Miss Sunshine.. I suspect they felt they'd missed out by not getting their hands on Sunshine and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and were unwilling to lose out on any more warm sunny cinema.

Like Little Miss Sunshine, Sunshine Cleaning begins with a broken family, some stalling dreams, ...

The highly in demand British actress Emily Blunt has landed the female love interest role in Get Him to the Greek, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall comedy spin-off that stars Russell Brand (as Aldous Snow) and Jonah Hill (as his lakey).

Hill and Brand who had so many laughs together in last year's Judd Apatow produced comedy, will re-team on a road-trip from London to Los Angeles, where Snow is set to perform at the Greek Theatre. From the sounds of things, Hill plays a music executive who talks his way into accompanying Brand, and is not reprising his role as the waiter from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Blunt will play a pop musician, who may duet with Brand on stage. Blunt has fantastic comedy timing and is a major coup for the picture.

Nicollas Stoller is once again directing and from the looks of things the movie will feature cameo's from famous popstars, including Christina Aguilera, Pink and Katy Perry. Forgetting Sarah Marshall was probably my guilty pleasure movie of last year and I thought Brand was terrific... but this time he's the lead and starring opposite Blunt could show him up if he's not at the absolute top of his game.

Jon Favreau has confirmed to E! (via The Playlist) that 20th Century Fox have used their pre-agreed option from THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA to nab actress Emily Blunt for one of the their tentpoles, casting her in GULLIVER'S TRAVELS, the upcoming adventure comedy starring Jack Black.

So it's confirmed she is out as Black Widow, which really sucks because she was the perfect actress for the role but of course she can't be in two places at once.

Filming on IRON MAN 2 will begin in just over two months so Favreau is likely to already be deep into the process of finding her replacement....

Now that Emily Blunt is out, who should play Emily Blunt in IRON MAN 2?
( polls)

Scarlett Johansson was rumored a few weeks ago to replace Blunt. Her recent hair dye has also fuelled this speculation, though I can't help but feel she is no good for a superhero role. And imaging her doing a Russian accent is a dreadful worry.

DOLLHOUSE actress Eliza Dushku has lobbyed for the part on Howard Stern and would be a really solid choice...

According to EW's sources, if Emily Blunt bails on IRON MAN 2 to work with Jack Black on the comedy adventure film GULLIVER'S TRAVELS at Fox... then replacing her as Black Widow in the Marvel sequel might be Scarlett Johansson.

Their "sources around Hollywood" claim that Johansson is interested in the role which will lead onto bigger things in future films and Marvel of course are attracted by the big name.

I do genuinely like Johansson and despite her struggling to look comfortable in any role since MATCH POINT four years ago, I do think she is a really talented actress. She just needs the right material to shine and someone who knows how to use her because her range doesn't cover anything.

In my opinion, this is not the role for her. She doesn't have the figure of the Black Widow, the acting style or the believability to pull it off quite as easily as Emily Blunt, who after all was the perfect casting choice.

I could see Johansson as the seductive Poison Ivy in a Batman film but not as a superhero/villain in the IRON MAN franchise.

GULLIVER'S TRAVELS begins production on April 15th. IRON MAN 2 will shoot around then but currently ...

Even if they are only offering him about 10% of what Tom Hanks makes per Dan Brown movie.

But if he does eventually sign on, Rourke may not be the Russian villain Crymson Dynamo according to Robert Downey Jr

The actor hinted to MTV that instead Rourke would be playing "a semblance of both" Dynamo and the villain Whiplash.

You can find more about that Whiplash character HERE.

Marvel's new policy of smaller wage packets might now have cost them Emily Blunt, who according to Variety is mulling over an offer to co-star in 20th Century Fox's adaptation of GULLIVER'S TRAVELS.

Both IRON MAN 2 (shooting in Manhatten) and GULLIVER'S TRAVELS (in the U.K.) will film in April and it's unlikely she will be able to commit to both, though her chances of doing so is said to be more optimistic this morning than it was a few days ago.

You would have thought it would be a no-brainer for Blunt after how successful IRON MAN was last year to star as Black Widow (and a role that she would grow into for future movies) but like I say, small wage packets compared with the big money Fox are likely to be throwing about and you can see why she has a dilemma.

There's also another factor in all this. Fox are said to have a "first look option" from a deal made way back during THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, which they could invoke to get Blunt to star in GULLIVER'S.

One actor who looks to have joined GULLIVER'S TRAVELS is FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL star Jason Segel who is in talks to ...

Variety are now posting rumors. So bare this in mind, this is not an official confirmation.

But anyway, the trade industry publication say uber hot and uber talented Brit actress Emily Blunt from THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (and if it ever gets released Universal's THE WOLF MAN), is the front runner to play Black Widow in IRON MAN 2.

Real name Natasha Romanoff, Black Widow is a soviet super spy who wears a skintight black costume that is enhanced by high-tech weaponry. Only in the comics eh?

She would be the femme fatale of the picture and would join Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke (pending expected contract agreements) as the third new nemesis for Downey Jr's Stark.

And the red-headed character in comic book form looks like this and if you know her arc, it could be a big setup for future movies...

Presumably they are also considering Rachel McAdams, another red-head who I remember being considered for the role of Pepper Potts before Gwyneth Paltrow won the part.

Not quite sure what's going on out there with IRON MAN 2 and Marvel at the moment. Director Jon Favreau, who was so talkative when he was making the original IRON MAN, hasn't said a word about ...

Following in the footsteps of Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson last year, Brit actress Emily Blunt has made a corset movie.

It's titled THE YOUNG VICTORIA and follows the emotional young life of the famous Queen of England who took the crown at the tender age of 18. The movie follows her romance to Prince Albert (Rupert Friend), her growth into the role of being Britain's ruler and her relationship to her mentor and future P.M. William Lamb (Paul Bettany).

The movie opens March 6th in the U.K. but has yet to win a U.S. deal...

I like the very down to Earth performance from Blunt, I like that we see her giggle. Too often (THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL) we see very stiff performances in this corset genre but Blunt looks to have given a lot of warmth to a character who is usually seen dressed all in black and with the weight of the world on her shoulders. I did enjoy THE DUCHESS last year, so I am capable of liking these movies.
Jean-Marc Valle, who previously directed the Indie movie C.R.A.Z.Y. has helmed this one from a script by the writer of VANITY FAIR and GOSFORD PARK.

This absolutely sucks and is a really bad sign for Universal's remake of THE WOLF MAN. The negative buzz that comes with constant delays can be fatal, even if it's just trying to find a better slot for release.

Fangoria claim they have heard that the current April 3rd release date for Joe Johnston's movie is to be pushed back, possibly to as late as next fall!

So it could be a whole 12 months before we see the transformation of Benicio del Toro into THE WOLF MAN though the wise move would be Oct. 31st. From the looks of things, the move is more out of financial box office strategy than the film not being complete in time.

April is never a good time to release a movie, especially a horror one.

Though of course any Halloween date and it would have to go up against SAW VI but I'm sure Benicio with the help of Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving could take Jigsaw down!

It's not only tiring being a cursed werewolf by night but it's also kinda bloody.

First image from the U.K. based location of The Wolf Man, a remake of the classic Universal horror picture which is now being directed by Jurassic Park III and Jumanji's Joe Johnston after Mark Romanek bailed on the project at the last minute.

The great cast of the movie also includes Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving and is due out in around 14 months time.

Nice to know this project is back on track after the change of director halted the shooting date. Let's hope we get some clearer photo's soon.

Review by Matt Holmes

[rating: 2.5]

Political biopics met with a 30's style adult comedy satire isn't something I believe audiences were craving to see and after sitting through a fast flowing 89 minutes of Charlie Wilson's War, I can't say I am overly keen to visit it again.

It's not like Charlie Wilson's War is a bad movie, far from it in fact. It's terrifically made from British veteran Mike Nichols whose last film made me wanna pick up a shotgun and violently kill all four leads of his over-dramatic morality play Closer but I was still left confused and frustrated by his intentions here.

Is this movie really just about Tom Hanks travelling the world, doing cocaine, drinking, having sex and meeting people... because that's just about all I cam remember from this.

Badly mis-cast as the drinking, womanizing but smart and intelligent Congressman, Tom Hanks is Charlie Wilson... the man who pushed ...
