Because we really don’t talk about Batman enough do we?

The future of the various Marvel franchises seem all worked out at the moment. James Vanderbilt is finishing his script for Spider-Man 4 which I would be almost willing to put my house on the main villain being The Lizard.

The Mandarin looks like he will be going toe-to-toe with Iron Man in the next movie with several hints to the idea that he could be the major player behind the shady strategy of Stark Enterprises. Thor will have his Loki - Captain America will have his Red Skull - butwhat of DC and their superhero sequels, specifically The Caped Crusader himself.
Part I | Part II | Part III

25 months ago, a movie called Superman Returns made me more angry than any film I had seen in nearly ten years. Not since Batman & Robin in 1997 had I ever been so pissed at a Hollywood production. Not Godzilla, not Battlefield Earth, not Pearl Harbour, nothing pissed me off as much as Supes and his ridiculous Return.

But I'm over it. I created Obsessed With Film because of it and life is treating me pretty well right now. And it finally looks like Warner Bros. are ready to move on to, after all life with The Dark Knight is treating them well too.

WB are set to re-write history. As far as the future goes Superman Returns didn't exist, they are doing what they should have done in the first place and are rebooting the franchise.

Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov has told the Wall Street Journal that they are doing what Louis Leterier did at Marvel with The Incredible Hulk. What Christopher Nolan did with Batman Begins and what eventually led to The Dark Knight - one of the biggest and most profitable films of all time.

They are admitting they made a mistake and are starting again...
"'Superman' didn't ...

Anyone who haunts movie websites and blogs has frequently heard of The Alamo Drafthouse theaters in Austin, Texas, USA. Championed loudly by Harry Knowles in the early days of Ain't It Cool News, the theater chain has taken on a legendary status among film geeks on major websites. The recent SXSW Festival held there has caused several sites to write up raves about their experiences, including First Showing and Cinematical.

By far the best and most detailed description of the place and its atmosphere came today from Peter Sciretta of Slash Film, who provides an adoring introduction to this amazing theater experience and how it works. He also provides some pictures guaranteed to make you ravenously hungry:

In my mind, The Alamo Drafthouse provides the method by which movie theaters around the world can save themselves from ruination. Many theater chains feel the noose of home theater tightening around their necks. Some blame the dearth of good films; others blame the glut of screens.

The movie industry feels that they need gimmicks like 3-D to entice audiences back into theaters. What they fail to realize, though, is the reason WHY audiences stay away these days. In modern theaters, the experience is the same ...
