Release Date: 9th March 2009

So it seems we are going to have another SAW every year then…

There is a very definite pattern emerging in this franchise: as the numbers progress, the stars of the lead actors gleam slightly less. First off we had Cary Elwes and Danny Glover, then the talents of Donnie Wahlberg in 2005’s follow-up, and since then we have been treated to a veritable smorgasbord of B and C list (at very best) actors. This next development sees Costas Mandylors (brother of Louis who played Joey’s fake twin in FRIENDS) and Scott Patterson (Luke in the bile-inducing GILMORE GIRLS) add their considerable acting chops to the series. How long until the guy that got coffee for the guy that fluffed Elizabeth Berkley's body double on SHOWGIRLS gets his chance? At this rate I should be in SAW X.

But of course it isn’t the actors who are the real stars of the SAW franchise (apart from maybe Tobin Bell), it’s the inventive ways in which they are dispatched, and it has to be said the Pendulum trap, for which SAW V is now best known ranks as one of the best offerings so far. It’s the perfect cringe-inducing ...

Richard Donner, director of all four LETHAL WEAPON movies has told L.A. Times that Mel Gibson has passed on the fifth movie which producer Joel Silver has recently put into development at Warner Bros. after being extremely impressed by Shane Black's script.

Donner also believes the project is now dead, because no Gibson means no franchise.

"It's too bad, actually, because Channing Gibson, who wrote the fourth one, and Mike Riva, a designer on three of them, and myself and Derek [Hoffman, an associate at The Donner Company] had an incredibly strong story for the fifth movie. But we weren't given the opportunity and I think maybe I could have convinced Mel to do it. But Warners chose to go with Joel Silver."

"Yes, the project is pretty much dead in the water unless someone had the sense to come to me."
Seems like this was a pack of falling cards for Warner Bros. When they couldn't get Donner involved in some capacity then they probably lost Gibson, their star. No Gibson, means no movie.. with or without Danny Glover.

A real shame if you ask me because I was strangely interested in seeing more adventures of Riggs and Murtaugh, they aren't like some of ...

It's on... Joel Silver is fast tracking LETHAL WEAPON at Warner Bros and has begun talking to potential actors for the first Shane Black scripted movie in the series since the original 1987 Richard Donner directed classic.

STOMP THE YARD lead Columbus Short has told IGN that he has spoken with Silver about the role of Murtaugh's son (Danny Glover's characters son) and mentions both Glover and Mel Gibson in his interview, as if both vets are already on board.

After a good amount of false starts, this new attempt to crack a LETHAL WEAPON return may just be happening and I've been all for it since Shane Black handed in his screenplay, I have complete faith in his ability to write the best possible movie for this franchise.

More so than ROCKY, RAMBO, DIE HARD... I say LETHAL WEAPON has the most chance of working today. It was never about how fit or strong you were, it was about being charismatic and funny, with a smart themed screenplay behind you. Neither Glover, Gibson, Black or hell, even Richard Donner are over the hill, they could all still do this.

After obtaining a good amount of supporting roles in the last four or five years, Danny Glover has seriously just hit the jackpot at 20th Century Fox.

He is in talks to play the U.S. President in Roland Emmerich's upcoming disaster film 2012 says The Hollywood Reporter.

Story centers on an academic researcher who opens a portal into a parallel universe and makes contact with his double in order to prevent an apocalypse predicted by the ancient Mayans.
John Cusack leads as the researcher, Chiwetel Eijofor has also been on board for a good number of weeks.

Joining them will be Thandie Newton (as the President's daughter) and Oliver Platt (as Vice-President) if talks go well.

Filming begins soon on the $200 million picture which is due out on July 10th 2009.

One of the worst experience of watching films in recent years was when I sat down and endured the sickly shot and vastly over-rated movie The Constant Gardner.

I could understand the important message of the film, I thought it was decently acted but I couldn't help but feel director Fernando Meirelles was being a little self-indulgent with his film-making in his Hollywood debut.

So frantic. So desperate to go to the next scene or shake the camera because it will add some tension. I hate to say this but the film felt like it was fraud, I dunno I just couldn't buy into it at all and it made me feel a little sick. I struggled through it like a visit to the dentist.

So brings us to the director's next movie Blindness about a sudden epidemic where the people randomly in a certain town are starting to turn blind.

Ultra-boring thriller actress Julianne Moore (I think she sucks in this genre anyway), Mark Ruffalo, Gael Garcia Bernal, Danny Glover and Alice Braga make-up the cast.

Looks sickly as ever. I don't know why but there is something about the way this guy makes movies that I really don't like. I'm getting a Children ...

Without a doubt the most approachable movie from the uber talented but often frustrating director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep), his latest whimsical affair Be Kind Rewind is his silliest and most confused feature yet. And it pains me to say it too because I've loved the idea for this movie for so very long. The idea that two guys come up with a plan to remake the entire video store collection themselves after they accidentally erase the footage on all the tapes is a really interesting one and I had really high hopes for it with the always inventive director on board.

I was expecting the High Fidelity of movie fandom but sadly Gondry has executed the neat premise in a boring, and repetitive manner... probably himself wishing that just like his leads Jerry (Jack Black) and Mike (Mos Def) he could deliver a 20 minute movie and we would all go home happy. That's basically what the film turns into, a really good a 20-30 minute short film before Gondry either gets bored with the premise or runs out of ideas, and goes off on his own tangent much like he did ...
