The Dark Knight footage screening in Chicago?

darkknight-1.jpg

Ok, so pretty much the whole plot of The Dark Knight has been revealed this week. Many of you will probably know the film almost beat by beat now and it will be a shame for those of you who didn’t realise you were reading spoilers when you actually were.

It’s always difficult to avoid them when a film like this is being covered by every movie site so extensively. But having said that, if you have kept away from the spoilers, let me just say your in for one hell of a ride come next July. Everything I campaigned and rallied for and claimed ‘had to be in the movie’ this time last year, seem to be just that and there’s one nice little surprise I’ve heard which is just awesome.

So what’s all this about footage and Chicago? Well today is the Chicago Wizard World Convention and at 6pm tonight (later obviously in the U.K.) we can expect tons of details and footage from The Dark Knight to have been spilled onto the web. However, security seems to be tight, so we might not get a bootlegged version of the footage but a detailed description seems likely.

Seen as though they are in Chicago, an appearance from the cast and crew also seems likely. Come back later tonight or early tomorrow morning folks and see what all the fuss is about.

The Joker is at it again?

The Joker camIt would seem there are more viral campaigns from Warner Brothers in reference to The Dark Knight. Is The Joker at it again?

The site can be found at http://www.whysoserious.com/ and is done in a similar manner to the last viral campaign.

The site features a clock that runs down and wouldn’t ya know it, when that timer ends… the Warner Brothers panel at the San Diego Comic-Con begins. The website even has directions to the Con!

Is this too obviously a fake or could it be real? Are they going to be presenting something at the Con? Could it be the teaser trailer which has already seen a bootlegged release in the last 12 hours?

Guess we will find out soon… boy it’s going to be hard work keeping up with all this news!

Hear Heath Ledger doing The Joker gig in The Dark Knight trailer!

Heath LedgerDamn those advanced screenings!

Anyone seeing The Simpsons Movie in the U.S. (but maybe not U.K.) this week will be privileged enough (and seriously it’s the only thing worth seeing) to see the hot of the press teaser trailer for The Dark Knight!

I would expect a better quality version in a matter of hours but if your anything like me your pressing that damn play button already and not even reading this!

Heath Ledger is going to make one creepy and sinister Joker… quite unlike any depiction of the character we have ever seen in any cinematic form ever. I love it, only 12 months to go… only 357 days, 3 hours, 48 minutes and 30 seconds to go… 29…28…27…26…

The Dark Knight teaser trailer description

Batman BeginsSo there’s a good chance we may get to see the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight this week when it’s likely to hit Comic-Con. Some sources on the web are even saying the trailer will be attached to prints of The Simpsons Movie this Friday but if you live in the U.K. like me, that’s probably not going to happen because we get to see the flick on Wednesday!

Oh well, I would rather get a movie two days earlier and then see the trailer on the web later, than the other way around I guess. Even if it is Batman.

Some lucky guy has reportedly seen the trailer already and sent in a description of what he saw to Superhero Hype. I don’t normally post spoilers but it’s only the god damn trailer and won’t give away anything from the movie but still if you want to stay 100% pure then skip to the next post…

It starts out with the WB logo gracing the screen, followed by the DC logo and the Legendary pictures logo. The screen goes black.

It opens back up as a commercial paid for by the friends of Harvey Dent. We are shown shots of him talking, making public speeches, and walking in a suit, while a deep voice comes on and talks about Harvey Dent. A generic politician commercial.

What seems to be halfway through the commercial, it is interrupted by static, and blacks out. Out of nowhere a crystal clear image comes onto the screen of a blacked out man with large windows behind him. The camera slowly zooms in on him. He’s talking (about what I won’t say) and as he finishes he begins laughing. Lightning strikes, lighting up his face, as the laughter grows more manic. Cut to black.

The Batman Begins (now The Dark Knight’s bat) emblem is shown with the words The Dark Knight. Then it says Summer 2008 and has the website at the bottom.

What is said… is a surprise that I must keep for now. It gave me chills.

This movie keeps hinting at a big rivalry between The Joker and Harvey Dent with Batman stuck right in the middle!

Sounds good to me.

Michael Jai White to Gamble in The Dark Knight

Michael Jai WhiteSpawn actor Michael Jai White has won the part of the mob boss Gamble in the currently filming (actually they are taking a day off today with it being July 4th, but whatever) Batman flick The Dark Knight.

This is the mysterious role that actor/rapper David Banner auditioned for in May 2007, but unfortunately for him he didn’t get it. I say mysterious because this character never appeared in the comic book canon of Batman, but MTV have got hold of some details…

“…the role of “Gamble” has officially gone to Michael Jai White, the muscular martial artist/stuntman/actor best known for roles in such films as “Spawn” and “Exit Wounds.” Thomas and Roven also cleared up fan confusion over who, exactly, the baddie is, explaining that Gamble is one of several mob bosses attempting to take over Gotham’s streets now that Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson in the first ‘Batman’ flick) is out of the picture.”

Ok that’s cool and everything but I thought Tom Wilkinson did a great job as the mob boss Carmine Falcone in Batman Begins, as did the rest of the supporting cast. I want to see more of the character and I was really hoping to see the rival gangster war between the Falcone family and the Maroni (Sal Maroni is to be played by Eric Roberts) family just as it is in The Long Halloween graphic novel.

This news would seem to put a dent in all that but I wouldn’t 100% rule out a last act appearance from Falcone as the gang war spirals to it’s highest point or maybe even a return for the character in the third film. Simply put, I hope we haven’t seen the last of Carmine Falcone.

Random Rumblings - Comissioner Gordon gets wife & kid

Gary OldmanLots of news today folks, so simply click on each link which will take you to the original article…

Regular T.V. actress Melinda McGraw and young actor Nathan Gamble have been cast as Commissioner Gordon’s wife and young son in The Dark Knight. Nice to see these characters make an appearance as they are an important part of Gordon’s mythos and character.

Flightplan upcoming Time Traveler’s Wife director Robert Schwentke is attached to direct a movie based on the Aran Shatterly book The Americano: Fighting for Freedom in Castro’s Cuba, an Untold Story which New Line Cinema has just optioned.

Thomas Jane says he knows of Zack Snyder’s interest in casting him as The Comedian in Watchmen but that’s as much as Shock Till You Drop get out of him.

Arielle Kebbel (The Grudge 2) and Emily Browning (Lemony Snickett) have joined the already cast Elizabeth Banks and David Strathairn in the Hollywood remake of the Korean horror flick A Tale of Two Sisters.

National Lampoon’s 301: The Legend of Awesomest Maximus Wallace Leonidas has been given a fall start date. No seriously, I didn’t make that title up. It’s a spoof of epic sword and sandals movies if you couldn’t tell.

Former Alias star Bradley Cooper is actually the actor that has signed on to play the TV news cameraman in the Sandra Bullock comedy All About Steve. Thomas Haden Church is still in talks for the movie, but instead for the role of a TV news correspondent.

Mos Def is to star and executive produce Bobby Zero for writing and directing duo Markus and Mason Center. He will be playing a social satirist who gives up his artistic aspirations to work at an advertising agency.

Elisha Cuthbert says she is starring in a Tim Allen quirky comedy titled The Six Wives of Henry Le Fay which begins shooting this August. She also hints at another site that a House of Wax 2 could be in the works after she has held talks with Dark Castle over the possible sequel.

Bloody Disgusting have some official stills of the other viking movie this year, Outlander.

Fan made trailer for The Dark Knight

jokerfanmadetrailer.jpgNot news, but this is probably the best fan made teaser trailer I’ve seen for a long time. If you pause the bit with Aaron Eckhart which is a mock-up of his political rally, you can see the Dent posters in the background… very impressive.

Very impressive mock-up of Heath Ledger as The Joker too, one of the best I’ve seen. The only thing that really lets the trailer down is the image from Se7en that’s planted in there. Still it’s very impressive and gets me excited for when we will first see a trailer for this thing.

I’m expecting just a small teaser (maybe just joker playing cards and a logo) at the Comic-Con next month, and then at the end of the year we will see a good length trailer with real footage from The Dark Knight.

Scarecrow spotted!

I remember when Batman Begins was filming three years back and the shear excitement I had when I switched on my computer to see what the latest scoop was with the movie. It’s really starting to get like that with The Dark Knight for me now.

With the clever ambiguous ending of the Scarecrow’s narrative arc in Batman Begins, we all wondered when exactly the character would show up again the series. Well I can tell you we have 100% evidence that the Scarecrow is in Batman’s next adventure from Superohero Hype.

There is the character, just behind the white van. We have to presume it’s Cillian Murphy and I wonder how big his role will be.

Your daily dose of Batman images…

Another day, another set of interesting images from The Dark Knight.

Slash Film have got the scoop on some exclusive images of the tumbler. If it’s exclusive (and they say they come from freakcomics anyway so it’s not 100% exclusive) does that mean I can’t steal them? Oh well…

Below the batmobile images we also have a side by side shot comparison of the old bat suit from Batman Begins and the brand spanking new one for The Dark Knight. It gives you a nice look at the subtle differences that have been made, and how much lighter, flexible and just plain cool it looks. Thanks to Screen Rant for those images, well worth visiting their site as they have written a great run down of the differences in the two suits.

REAL pics of the Batcycle & more Batman news

batcycle.jpgReal images of the Batman’s new bike have been released online and as you can see it looks completely different to those fake images that were reported about earlier this month. The article at LA Times reveals that the vehicle will once again be manufactured for Bruce by Morgan Freeman’s character Lucius Fox.

I dunno what to think of it. The bike sure looks different but again seeing it in the context of the film is the key thing. I hated the “tank” Batmobile before Batman Begins came out but once I saw it on film, I loved it… so just like the Joker car I’m reserving my opinion for now.

The latest rumor also is that Anthony Michael Hall will be playing The Riddler in The Dark Knight, or more accurately the “good guy Edward Nygma”. Interesting, interesting.

These images (including the one below) have been added to our movie watch page for The Dark Knight.
