The Hollywood Reporter say Chris Evans has been offered the coveted role of Captain America, though reps for Marvel & Evans aren't talking.

If it is a solid scoop (which I think it is) and he takes it (which he will), Evans will be the first actor to have won the role of two separate major Marvel superheroes having already turned in screen time as The Human Torch for the Fantastic Four movies at Fox.

I don't think many of us have any qualms about this. Firstly, that franchise is done and he will never reprise that role. Two, the FF aren't involved in this new Marvel universe so there will never be a cross-over and thirdly; no-one cares about those crappy movies and therefore we have no real affinity towards them. They were embarrassing and we have all put them behind us.

By the time Marvel win back the rights to the FF characters on film (which they will eventually with Disney's lawyers pulling the strings) and with Fox looking at rebooting the series over the next three years, nobody is going to care that he twice played Human Torch.

I would speculate the offer that's been put out to Evans to be ...

According to Mike Fleming, former model turned actor Channing Tatum is now being considered for the role of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America in Marvel's June 2011 released tentpole which begins filming at the end of next month.

So first there was Chris Evans, then Ryan Phillipe and now Tatum after the original bunch of t.v. actors and unknowns. There's certainly a pattern forming here.

These are actors who have a number of big features under their belt (despite two of them struggling to win roles right now) and it's pretty clear that the bunch of guys Joe Johnston was originally given to consider for a March 1st casting deadline, just weren't up to snuff.

Marvel are deepening their $300,000 pockets, and are now looking at the kind of talent we originally thought would be considered for this. After the jump, a look at three British actresses' up for the love interest part, one of which is Keira Knightley;

Tatum, of course, feels right physicality wise. He has charisma too, even though he kinda went missing in G.I. Joe but nobody really survived that picture with much pride. The guy has momentum with Dear John performing at the box office and with Knockout and The ...

Usually reserved for unnecessary sequels, G.I. Joe has landed itself a subtitle.

It shall now be known not just as G.I. Joe but with G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA. But of course we will still call it G.I. JOE. Today we got a new character poster for the film featuring Channing Tatum as Duke...

Presumably the Cobra in the title has a lot to do with Joseph Gordon Levitt's so far unseen character and I believe main villain, Cobra Commander.

Why studio's think these subtitles do movie projects any good is beyond me. Stallone got it right by just calling his last two movies Rocky Balboa and Rambo. Nolan ain't calling his movies Batman Begins: Rise of the Dark Knight or anything corny like that.

G.I. Joe was fine. Rise of the Cobra sounds straight to DVD!

Review by Ray DeRousse

[rating: 3]

Ugh. This is going to be a detailed review. I apologize in advance.

Let me get the politics out of the way in the opening sentence: I am an American, and completely against the American military operation in effect since September 11, 2001. In fact, I often apologize to those I meet from Europe and other parts of the world simply out of embarrassment for the so-called "war on terror" that the terrorists in the White House continue to wage in the sullied name of "democracy."

My politics - combined with my inability to keep my mouth shut - have often set me at odds with my war-mongering fellows. One night at a bar, I had the privilege to meet a 19 year old (the brother of a female friend) who was on a one week leave from Iraq. After several beers, I began to speak quite abusively of the government's actions ...

The best project to have actually been born out of the WGA strike at the last minute is Michael Mann's PUBLIC ENEMIES, a movie that will see Christian Bale as an F.B.I agent tracking down such notorious gangsters as Pretty Boy Floyd, John "Red" Hamilton and of course the infamous John Dillinger, to be played by Johnny Depp.

These men were collectively known as the PUBLIC ENEMIES, and the eventual taking down of these criminals by then U.S. President J. Edgar Hoover in the 30's by his federal agents, was seen as the true birth of the F.B.I. The Universal Pictures depression-era thriller will begin shooting on March 10th, and Variety carry word of a whole host of names just added as the supporting cast.

First up, Oscar nominated last week for her role in LA VIE EN ROSE was Marion Cotillard, who has been cast as Billie Frechette, the lover of Dillinger. 32 year old Cotillard an unknown actress just 18 months ago was controversially cast as 40's French icon Edith Piaf but as her Academy Award nom shows she put in a fantastic performance and from the still from that movie above... if she were to use that make-up again ...

Latino Review called it, the lead role in G.I. JOE has gone to STEP UP actor Channing Tatum, marking the biggest role of the 27 year old's career so far. The guy has been linked with nearly every franchise role under the sun in the last year including THE INCREDIBLE HULK and THE PUNISHER but it's taken Paramount to be the studio that went ahead and gave him the ball.

I would have preferred Mark Wahlberg or the originally cast Sam Worthington (AVATAR delay ruled him out) but I'm willing to give Tatum a chance. And hey, it can't be worse than the casting of Marlon Wayans.

I've never really seen Tatum act outside of COACH CARTER and his uncredited "Boy in church scene' from WAR OF THE WORLDS... so I'm not angry at this though from the outside looking in if there was one part that badly needed an actor of note and some cinematic chops it was this one.

Duke's the main character of the bunch right, if not officially the leader? So surely someone like Wahlberg or Clooney was perfect for this, and that extra age they had on the rest of the cast would be a benefit.

There's nothing ...
