Brandon Routh, whose career post-SUPERMAN RETURNS is far from over (he has 8 movies in production right now before today) has joined SCOT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, Edgar Wright's adaptation of the Oni Press graphic novel.

He will play another ex-evil boyfriend of Ramona (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), who Scot Pilgrim (Michael Cera) must defeat after shacking up her with. Routh plays the third evil boyfriend, Todd Ingram, a rocker with vegan psychic powers.

The Hollywood Reporter confirm the previously leaked casting of Chris Evans and also have the scoop that Brie Larson (UNITED STATES OF TARA) has joined the picture as an ex-girlfriend of Pilgrim, whom she still have feelings for.

Mae Whitman as Roxy Richter, the fourth ex, a female who is half-ninja. Anna Kendrick (who will get her big break in Jason Reitman's next movie) as Pilgrim's sister

And another confirmation of Ellen Wong as Knives Chau, who Pilgrim is dating when he meets his dream girl; and Mark Webber plays Stephen Stills, a member of Pilgrim's rock band. Alison Pill is the band's drummer and Johnny Simmons is Young Neil, the band's biggest fan. Aubrey Plaza plays Webber's on-again off-again girlfriend.

Satya Bhabha plays an ex-boyfriend who can summon demon hipster girls ...

For all the many, many problems I had with SUPERMAN RETURNS, barely any of them involved Brandon Routh or his performance as the last son of Krypton.

I thought he was damn solid, in fact quite brilliant as Clark Kent, if a little too washed out to be Superman. I would give his Clark Kent a solid A but his Superman just a B... though I would love to see the young actor have another crack at it.

Even though Warner Bros. are in the reboot mode for one of their most famous characters, the studio might yet hang their hopes on Routh one more time. Speaking to Latino Review, DC head chief Paul Levitz revealed Routh has held talks with them over their new direction...
“Last week Brandon Routh has come around the offices in New York and Los Angeles as of late to talk about Superman and what we want to do”
That new reboot was announced a few weeks ago, with WB actively encouraging writers to pitch their ideas for a new direction, the most vocal being Mark Millar... the comic book writer who wrote the comics WANTED and next year's KICK-ASS are based on.

It would certainly be easier for Warner ...

25 months ago, a movie called Superman Returns made me more angry than any film I had seen in nearly ten years. Not since Batman & Robin in 1997 had I ever been so pissed at a Hollywood production. Not Godzilla, not Battlefield Earth, not Pearl Harbour, nothing pissed me off as much as Supes and his ridiculous Return.

But I'm over it. I created Obsessed With Film because of it and life is treating me pretty well right now. And it finally looks like Warner Bros. are ready to move on to, after all life with The Dark Knight is treating them well too.

WB are set to re-write history. As far as the future goes Superman Returns didn't exist, they are doing what they should have done in the first place and are rebooting the franchise.

Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov has told the Wall Street Journal that they are doing what Louis Leterier did at Marvel with The Incredible Hulk. What Christopher Nolan did with Batman Begins and what eventually led to The Dark Knight - one of the biggest and most profitable films of all time.

They are admitting they made a mistake and are starting again...
"'Superman' didn't ...

Last week we got word that the Warner Bros. picture Justice League had been "tabled" and today we got some more updates on the situation. It is rapidly coming clear that MOST if not ALL the crew were given their termination notice two weeks ago.

Superman Homepage have heard as much...
"It's a pity, there was a lot of good stuff in it - stuff that would've been fairly new to the screen", said my inside source. "But also some not so good stuff... so who knows...".

"There's a glimmer of hope that it will still be done... but that's a lot of planets to align."
And then a source from Fox Studio's (yes a rival studio) who was working on the same lot as the movie out in Australia told this to IESB...
"yes, it's dead."
No official word as yet from Warners but it would now seem that Superman: The Man of Steel is once again favourite as being the next DC superhero movie to be put into production which Brandon Routh told Collider this week, he hopes will be begin production early next year.

Review by Matt Holmes

[rating: 3]

You can tell that Bryan Singer loved what Richard Donner did with Superman in the 70's. Every shot, piece of dialogue and musical score is a homage to the great Richard Donner movie. Superman Returns is clearly made by someone who was having the time of their life and is not so much a new start for Superman like Batman enjoyed last year under Christopher Nolan, it's a continuation right from where Superman II left off.

This is Superman II.5: Superman Returns.

Quite shocking when Warner Bros. got it so right with Batman Begins last year and the fanboys are still buzzing over "the right way" to do a comic book superhero on film. This is a franchise that could have done with a new restart... why this wasn't called Superman Begins, Superman: Rebirth, Superman: The Man of Steel or something that ...
