I would love to be able to sit here and tell you I'd reviewed Streets of Blood and had been completely blown away- that I had just watched Val Kilmer cement the comeback he playfully hinted at with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and 50 Cent notch up his breakout performance that would surely see him fully accepted as an actor in his own right.

Sadly though someone has kidnapped my postman. Seriously, I know there is talk of a strike once again over pay (try working in retail you Postman Pat fucks!) but I havent had so much as a Reader's Digest Winners Acknowledgement for two weeks. Having expected a raft of review discs in the same period, I'm more than a touch miffed at the conspicuous lack of even the lightest thud on the mat of Obsessed Towers in the morning.

So, instead I'm stuck with just advertising the releases Ive missed out on (I refuse to stream things generally), and watching some of the millions of DVDs I've bought over the past six months. Yesterday, as a link to the Val Kilmer led Streets of Blood, I watched Top Secret! (a lesser known output of the Zuckers). Needless to say, it's ...

Manhatten born writer Nick McDonell was compared to Brett Easton Ellis when he wrote the international bestseller Twelve, aged just 17 back in 2002. The novel which subjected on a compelling mix of drug use, lust and upper class decadence made his debut work a provocative read, which Michiko Kakutani from The New York Times called "as fast as speed, as relentless as acid."

Now Variety carry word that Joel Schmaucher, the more miss than hit director of some of the worst films I have ever had to endure in a cinema (Batman & Robin, The Number 23, Bad Company) is making a movie out of the novel. Maybe I should lighten up on the Schmaucher hate, I did like The Lost Boys after all.

"Nick McDonell is the real thing... I'm afraid he will do for his generation what I did for mine" - Hunter S. Thompson. You just can't buy that kind of front cover quote... proof enough this novel is an important one.

Chace Crawford, Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Ellen Barkin and Kiefer Sutherland, make up the core cast for the film adaptation.

Pop Matters carried the plot...
Twelve is the story of rich, bored, recreational-drug-using high school kids on Christmas break in New York City. There's the triumvirate of ...

Over the past few days, the role of Hale Caesar in Sly Stallone's The Expendables was the subject of something of a merry-go-round last minute casting after the long time attached Forest Whitaker had to pull out due to scheduling difficulties.

On Wednesday, AICN ran a story which originated from Stallone himself proclaiming, rather shockingly that rapper 50 Cent would be replacing Whitaker in the movie. The annoucmenet disgusted and worried many, that such a great actor, a recent Oscar winning leading man would be replaced by Cent.

But those worries were quashed on Saturday when AICN once again ran a story for The Expendables, now claiming that former San Diego Charger Terry Crews would play the part.

And the world was happy once again.

The casting is all but complete for 13, the Hollywood remake of a much liked psychological French noir thriller 13 TZAMETI which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival a few years.

Variety say Ray Liotta, Mickey Rourke, Ray Winstone, Jason Statham, Sam Riley and er, 50 Cent will star.

Riley ("Control") plays the title character, a young man who stumbles into an underground competition where the wealthy gamble on human beings in a Russian Roulette-like competition.

Rourke... will play a convict in a Mexican prison who is sold into the competition. Winstone... will play a competitor who has been sprung from a mental institution to participate; 50 Cent ("Righteous Kill") will play an employee assigned to escort Rourke's character to the bloody game.

Statham... plays a wealthy British man who bets on the competition and has a peculiar interest in one of the competitors. Liotta... will play a cop on the trail of the illegal game.
Seduced by the bigger budget, the bigger resources and no doubt the bigger wage... Gela Babluani, the writer/director of the original is back on board to do the same task. No word if this version will be black and white also.

I had never seen ...
