Landing in my inbox at 9.30am was this message from Simon, clearly showing last minute jitters and worries over transport at the festival. I had to post it, because I so know the feeling of what he is going through.
Haven’t we all felt like this before we take an adventure?
The more I look at the location of this hotel, the more of a nightmare its beginning to look. Saint-Raphael is on the main TGV line and theres a train like once every half hour into Cannes and back- the only thing is the service stops at 9pm (the last one leaving Cannes back to St-Raphael) which scuppers night times. There might be a bus up until 1am, but the sites are all in French with no translation, which is helpful, so I have no idea how to go about that. Then there’s the fact that the hotel isnt actually in St Raph- its outside it, so Ill have to get a taxi into the town to the train station to get into Cannes, and then likewise on the return journey. Not ideal- Im slightly anxious that Im going to end up lost in the middle of France, without the opportunity to see some of the night time films (Im thinking Drag Me to Hell primarily- but Id imagine there will be a load of things playing at night time) unless I were to get a taxi back from Cannes whenever I do.
I reallise theres nowt we can do, but I needed to moan!
Simon
Bless him. He flies out Tuesday, and hates planes!
