Beach View- 10.30am 15th May 2009 Palais des Festivals, looking out over the beach
Harking back to a feature I was enormously fond of, but which unfortunately bit the dust when its legality was doubted, I thought I’d bring you My Cannes Playlist, i.e. the most played songs from my iPod during the past week, ranked in order of frequency. Little surprise that most have a cinematic flavour (I culled 80% of my library before I left England’s green shores)…
- Marvin Gaye- What’s Going On?
- Stevie Wonder- Superstitious
- Creedence Clearwater Revival- Fortunate Son
- Glen Hansard- Falling Slowly
- Alien Ant Farm- Movies
- Anvil- Metal on Metal
- Glenn Campbell- Times Like These
- Michael Jackson- Off The Wall
- Bobby Womack- Across 110th Street
- Tenacious D- Wonder Boy
- Foo Fighters- The Pretender
- Steve Miller Band- The Joker
- Creedence Clearwater Revival- Up Around The Bend
- Bullet For My Valentine- All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)
- Journey- Dont Stop Believing
Eclectic, to say the least. Make of that what you will, I’m off to get sunburnt in the queue for Antichrist.

at canne and you write this?
Dude, lighten up. All movies and no music makes Simon a dull boy. Nice playlist, but why no Prince????
Andrew- it’s not all sipping assaultingly priced alcohol and hob-nobbing with the big-boys! Besides, I had two spare minutes and Im trying to convey the whole experience of Cannes, not just the screenings.
BrainVision- Prince is the devil. Think about it: never in the same room. And he’s ugly but can claim an unholy amount of notches in his bed post!
