Tom Hanks is the new James Bond

Burbanked has once again stumbled across something that I just have to upload for you guys.

It’s Tom Hanks replacing Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, and it is so very, very, very well made. This must have taken this guy ages!

Off to watch Smokin’ Aces (although, I’m hearing the film doesn’t match up to it’s great advertising campaign). I saw The Illusionist yesterday, and last week I saw Superman Returns for the second time, so expect a couple of more reviews over the next few days.

Thanks for visiting us at Obsessed With Film, we update several times a day, so if you haven't done so yet you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. You can also sign up to receive updates via e-mail.

Greatest Movie Scenes #26 - THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION

shawshank_redemption_ver1scenes.jpgThis week’s great movie scene is from the magnificent and incredible The Shawshank Redemption and is truly one of the greatest scripted sequences in motion picture history.

It’s the blueprint of screenwriting classes everywhere!

The clip below chronicles Andy’s escape from the prison with a great narration from Morgan Freeman, in a time before his narrations became commonplace.

Olyphant talks Die Hard Plot & Hitman Movie

timothy01.jpgIf there is one casting that Live Free or Die Hard got spot on for me, it’s the villain Timothy Olyphant. He plays an awesome bad eccentric bad guy and his ability to pull off memorable monologues means that he more often than not….completely steals the show.

Olyphant spoke to Coming Soon about his role in the movie….

…”it’s a cyber-terrorist plot based on this article that was in Wired magazine a few years ago saying that as horrific and sad as it was seeing a building come down, the real threat to the country was cyber-terrorism; if somebody were to hack into that infra-structure, they could cripple the country in a matter of days….

…This character is a guy who used to work for the government and warned them of this possibility and is now carrying it out. So, in its own right, it’s a different character, a different villain. There’s something that feels a little bit more unstable about a person who would do that kind of a thing. The ouch doesn’t really match the pinch. It was a guy whose career was ruined and is now saying ‘I told you so”.

The problem I have with the film going in the direction of “cyber-terrorism”, is that plots like that are never all that interesting. Movies about computers are dull, we are on the god damn things all day long, when we go to the movies we want to see John McClane blow up shit!

I read Dan Brown’s (you know, guy who wrote Da Vinci Code) book Digital Fortress a couple of years ago and that dealt with “cyber-terrorism” and it bored me to death. Though from the looks of the trailer, there seems to be plenty of explosions to keep us all happy!

Olyphant also spoke on his role in the Hitman video game movie, is he actually confirmed for the role of Agent 47?….

“I don’t think I’ve ever been officially attached to it contrary to the internet. It sounds fun. It sounds pretty cool. I’ve seen the pictures. I’ve never played the game but it looks cool. Lord knows what I’d look like when this hair comes off. It’s a major concern.”

I think he’s signed folks, look at the way is he talking about in the last two lines. That dude is signed.

Olyphant as the Hitman character, was a casting move I thought that they had got very wrong but I’m willing to give him a go.
